I cannot fathom the insane idea behind selling jackets with penknives in them. Especially with the whole intense climate around knife crime at the moment.
It completely irresponsible to sell knives as part of a jacket – taking them out of the kitchen and directly into the hands of young adults who then have the opportunity to use them. Why do that? Why make it ‘cool’ to own a coat with a knife attached?
TK Maxx supports and enforces all laws and regulations with regard to the sale of knives in stores.
“We have rigorous processes in place to ensure that knives are displayed clearly and safely in our stores, that our associates are fully and properly trained on the legislation and that knives are sold only to customers over the age of 18

Do they think that 18 year olds are completely responsible, even though they are legally classed as adults? They are simply making a weapon easily accessible to boost their bank funds, which is disgustingly irresponsible.
Yahoo News say that the coats were recalled as soon as the firm became aware of the issue, but how could they NOT have known that the item they were selling came with a deadly promotional gift?
Even if some slipped through the net, surely they can communicate with their stores to ensure it does go on the shop floor and through the till! Are they THAT slack that they cannot even manage that?
Unbelievable.
